Dear Teacher,
The Ditch Summit has inspired me to shake the dust off of Matt Miller's books and start reading. I am hoping to discover some additional information that I can add to my growing list of tech skills that I have gained thanks to the COVID pandemic.

The first book I grabbed was Tech like a Pirate. This is a short 124 pages that was easy to read. Ready to join me?

How to Join the Book Study

You can join in this book study at any time! Remember, the point of Passionate Teaching is to do things when we do not feel stressed.  Simply look for the hashtag #DaisiesandChalkReads on Instagram then add a comment to the post or create your own using this hashtag. It is that simple!

For each chapter, I have asked a few thought provoking questions. Use these to help you dive deep into the book and discover ways to make your teaching better. Share these ideas with others and watch your teaching transform!

Format for the Book Study

I will announce what I am reading a week prior to starting the discussion. Each day will have 3 chapters to reflect on. You can do these all at once or one at a time. I just like to bundle them together to keep it easier to follow along on the blog.

On Instagram, each chapter will appear separately so you can discuss the questions in depth and hear from other teachers who are reading the book as well. Simply look for the hashtag #DaisiesandChalkReads to join the discussion.

I purchase almost all of my books through Amazon. Below is an affiliate link to purchase this book and join in on our study.

Before You Read

When I create a lesson plan, I use my standards to set a goal that I want to accomplish and work from there.

Before I read any book, I take a moment to reflect on why I want to read this book. What do I want to get out of it?

Before making the purchase or committing to this study, I want you to ask yourself these question. Is this something you truly want to invest in at this time?
In Illinois, educators are required to set a personal goal each year to improve in one area of our profession. My school district refers to this as an EGP (Educator Growth Plan). My plan for the 2020-2021 school year is to improve my use of technology in the classroom. I have committed to one hour a month to this study. This book fits in perfectly with my goal for the year.

Join me at #daisiesandchalksread on Instagram to share why you have chosen to read this book and what you hope to get out of it.
Until Next Time,
Misty
