I am often asked how I choose the name of my website. I did a lot of research as I wanted to convey a specific message through the branding of my site. The name Daisies and Chalk ties in with the branding message I wanted to convey.
Yellow - Is the color of joy and opportunity. It is the sunshine that brings to view hidden successes. It energizes and stimulates. It provides the positive support and youthful energy you need to take that next risk.
Pink - Is sensitive and passionate. It is the color of the nurturing playfulness of mother with her child. Pink reminds us of the note left behind by a secret admirer; that rush of butterflies in our stomach and of hope for things to come.
Orange - Is the color of motivation and enthusiasm. It conjures up images of cozy campfires underneath crisp fall trees. It reminds you of independence, fun, and creativity. It asks you to invite others to join you on an adventure.
In addition, I wanted my brand to be clean, simple, and modern. I used the idea of a black chalkboard and white chalk to create that clean, simple look. I added some gray to the mix to create a modern feel and to take away some of the harshness of the black/white combo.
Creating Your Brand
There is a lot of thinking that goes into creating your own brand. This is something that is important. I wrote an entire post on why Branding You is essential to success in your chosen career.
I am lucky. My BFF's mother is an Interior Designer and my BFF is a web designer. When I decide to take my journal and turn it into an online blog (this site), they encouraged me to create my brand. They walked me through all of the steps. It was a lot more complicated than picking the name and the colors. It is something I wouldn't have done without their guidance.
I took all of this information that they gave me and created a workbook for you. Now you can have the same insider tips that I did and create a site that is completely you!
